Where is Cooinda

Camp Cooinda is based on seven hectares of banksia bushland with magnificient beach frontage on Lake Victoria in the heart of the Gippsland Lakes in eastern Victoria, Australia.

Camp Cooinda is 20 km from Bairnsdale and 300 km east of Melbourne. The Gippsland Lakes consist of three connected lakes into which a number of rivers flow. The Lakes National Park, the Coastal National Park and the vast sand dunes of the Ninety Mile Beach are readily accessible by boat and are used extensively in the camp program.

Cooinda Island is a six hectare island owned by Camp Cooinda Inc. It is 10 km by water from the base site and provides a variety of interesting outdoor camping sites. It is in radio contact, so that island expeditions are supported through reliable communication with mainsite.
